Economist/Accountant with 17 years experience in Shell including work in Treasury as head of Shell’s Foreign Exchange and Money Market dealing which has pioneered the use of low cost automation, data science and algorithmic dealing technology.  I currently work in Finance Operations (one of 7000 staff) responsible for providing data science solutions across the company together with the rollout of Low Cost Automation within Finance Operations.  The Low Cost Automation journey has included the selection of and deployment of a group wide robotic process automation tool which is now being combined with workflow technology to provide end to end automation of manual and repetitive processes to drive down operating costs and improve data quality.

  • Andrew Parris

Andrew was appointed to the role of Shared Services Director for Lafarge Tarmac (now, Tarmac) in 2014.  Whilst also leading the Finance Shared Services Function, he is responsible for Finance Transformation at Tarmac, is a member of the Finance Leadership Team and the Tarmac Leadership team. The 12 years prior to joining the Lafarge Tarmac were spent with National Grid in various Senior Finance roles, principally in business partnering capacities. His last role before leaving National Grid was Financial Controller for the Transmission Capital Investment programme, helping to deliver c£1.5bn of capital expenditure projects each year.  In addition to leading a multi-function SSC (HR and Finance) he is also responsible for the Finance Transformation programme at Tarmac.

Andrew originally trained as a chartered accountant with BDO in South Africa and spent three post-qualifying years with PwC in the UK. A member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and the Chartered Management Institute. Andrew also chairs the Birmingham and Midlands Shared Services Forum and speaks regularly at Shared Services and Finance Transformation events.

Irfan Ali is leading the Robotics Process Automation Initiative at Bosch Shared services. In this role, In addition to running & ramping up the Automation Centre of Excellence team at India centre, he also is evangelizing, steering & co-developing centrally the Automation roadmap for various functions such as Procurement, HR and Finance.
Since Q2/Q3 2016, he has successfully deployed Robotic farm engagements for the Indirect procurement at Bosch, spanning across 7 countries and 45 SAP systems. Also, strategically positioning Robert Bosch GmbH in winning the SSON Excellence award 2016 for Robotics in November 2016.

In the endeavor to building the ACE and the digital workforce, he has engaged in successfully developing Automation Lifecycle frameworks (DAO), evaluating the Technology Partner ecosystem, creating Automation Business cases and more importantly, developing and deploying Change Management initiatives.
Prior to his current role, Irfan has worked in various leadership roles across Transitions, Operations, Process Transformation Executive Office Management and Business Development, within the Shared Services as well as the IT-enabled Services ecosystem. He has over 13 years of experience in working with functions such as Finance & Accounting, Supply Chain, eLearning, Design Factory, Translations and Allied Digital services.

Tom Reuner is Research Vice President, Intelligent Automation at HfS. Tom is responsible for driving the HfS research agenda for Intelligent Automation across the whole gamut ranging from RPA to Autonomics to Cognitive Computing and Artificial Intelligence. A key element in Tom’s responsibilities is guiding clients and stakeholders on the evolution of Intelligent Automation including the coverage of new players and approaches. Furthermore, he is driving the research on application testing and service management. A central theme for all of his research is the increasing linkages between technological evolution and evolution in the delivery of business processes.

Tom’s deep understanding of the dynamics of this market comes from having held senior positions with Gartner, Ovum and KPMG Consulting in the UK and with IDC in Germany where his responsibilities ranged from research and consulting to business development. He has always been involved in advising clients on the formulation of strategies, guiding them through methodologies and analytical data and working with clients to develop impactful and actionable insights. Tom is frequently quoted in the leading business and national press, appeared on TV and is a regular presenter at conferences.

Tom has a PhD in History from the University of Göttingen in Germany.

He lives in London with his wife and in his spare time he is trying to improve his culinary skills in order to distract him from the straining experience of being a Spurs supporter.

Richard joined Zurich in 2008 managing BPO Operations for UKGI. Since then, he set up the Personal Lines supplier/operations team and is now Head of UKGI Sourcing & Standards – assuring Zurich’s 10,000 strong supplier base, defining sourcing standards as well as retaining ownership of Offshore BPO operations.

Prior to this, Richard has worked for several UK blue chip companies in senior operational roles including Head of Collections (Barclays Secured Lending), Head of Sales (Halifax Bank of Scotland) and Operations Manager (Admiral Insurance Group). Richard graduated from Cardiff Business School in 2005 with a Master’s in Business Administration (specialising in Organisational Change & Management in Developing Economies). He is currently working the National Outsourcing Association as part of his post-graduate studies in Strategic Global Outsourcing.

Richard lives in Wales (UK), is a keen rugby fan and has a keen interest in Neuro Linguistics (including Timeline & Hypnotherapy).

Faisal is the Global Strategy and Projects Lead for BT’s Finance Shared Service Centres. He is responsible for developing and driving the FSSC strategy, as well as delivering major programmes across the FSSCs globally through initiation to delivery. These programmes range from transitions, insourcing, process re-engineering and automation.

One of the current programmes that Faisal is currently leading is around the implementation of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) in the Finance Shared Services.

Faisal has deep and extensive experience of shared services across industries. Prior to joining BT, Faisal worked in management consultancy with E&Y and Deloitte, specialising in Finance Shared Services working across a variety of projects.

  • Viji Varghese

Viji Varghese runs the Robotics Program at ANZ, as Head of CoE for Automation.

He runs an operation that is a blend of a human, and a digital workforce: he leads a team of around 65 specialists in areas spanning Automation, Business Transformation and Business Support. He therefore manages the full life cycle of Automation.
His key strengths include executing ANZ’s strategies and implementing change across all levels; leading large multicultural teams is his forte.

Viji has been instrumental in embedding Robotic Process Automation (RPA) successfully across ANZ’s functional groups and countries.
He has been building a digital workforce by leveraging tools such as Open Span, Automation Anywhere and Cloudera. In his four years’ experience of doing this, he has deployed 1000 robots in streams like Lending, Retail Banking, and Payments and Mortgages, across 154 processes and seven countries.

Prior to his current role, Viji was Head of Payment Operations and RPA at the global level. Here, he managed all facets of Payment Operations like Payment Processing, Payment Investigations, Nostro Investigations, Static Data Maintenance, Liquidity and Channel On-boarding/Maintenance.

Before moving to ANZ, Viji spent 14 years at HSBC.

Soon after his MBA, he got his maiden job here as a Transition Trainer and then went on to lead a 1900-member Payment Operations team, servicing 32 countries. He worked in diverse segments within the Bank like Training, Projects, Strategy, Operations and Commercialisation.

Viji is extremely passionate about children, education, the environment and poverty alleviation; he managed a school for underprivileged children for a year during his stint at HSBC and supports organisations, such as St. Gregorios Balagram in Yacharam, Telangana, which adopts and educates children of leprosy patients.

Zeeshan has specialized in business transformation. Currently Zeeshan is responsible for establishment of a Robotic Center of Excellence within Danske Bank.

He has several years of field experience, during which he has held technical as well as managerial roles. Zeeshan has also worked on multiple sourcing engagements focusing on Infrastructure, AD/AM and cross functional services ranging from contract assessment, sourcing requirement elicitation, development for tender material, due diligence, vendor negotiation to actual transition and transformation.
